Tuning in to Kids® is a program that teaches emotion coaching skills to parents and carers.
Those caring for children develop skills in understanding and managing their own emotions and how to respond supportively to children’s emotions. This strengthens connections and improves children’s emotional competence and behaviour.
The program was originally developed by Professor Sophie Havighurst and Ann Harley in 1999 based on the work of John Gottman and colleagues. There are now a number of adaptations of the program including Tuning in to Kids®, Tuning in to Teens®, Dads Tuning in to Kids™ and Tuning in to Toddlers™.
The Tuning in to Kids® suite of programs are evidence based, with a number of studies conducted by our team as well as independent researchers around the world. See our research page for further information.
