Frequently Asked Questions

We recognise that the conclusion of the University of Melbourne’s involvement in the Tuning in to Kids programs may raise questions for facilitators, participants and other stakeholders. The information below addresses some of the most common questions we have received and will be updated as relevant information becomes available.

Is Tuning In to Kids ending?

No.  From 2027, the University of Melbourne and the Mindful Centre for Training and Research in Developmental Health will no longer offer training in the Tuning In suite of programs. This announcement relates only to the University’s involvement in the programs and should not be interpreted as meaning that the programs themselves are ceasing.

Can I still run a Tuning In parenting group?

Yes. Facilitators who have completed training and obtained facilitator certification may continue to deliver Tuning in to Kids groups in accordance with the terms and conditions under which they were certified.

How will I access information about the program in 2027?

The University and Mindful will continue to communicate directly with facilitators and other stakeholders regarding changes to University-operated services and resources.

I am enrolled in training in 2026. Will the training still run?

Yes. All scheduled 2026 training will proceed as planned unless participants are advised otherwise.

I have unused pre-paid place/s (including group bookings). What happens now?

If you have unused pre-paid places or group bookings, please contact the Tuning In team via tik-info@unimelb.edu.au

The University is committed to working with impacted participants and organisations to identify an appropriate pathway to utilise pre-paid training places where possible. Where it is not possible to utilise pre-paid places, a refund will be provided for any remaining unused places.

Will I still be able to access the facilitator portal?

The University will maintain access to the facilitator portal during a transition period while future arrangements are worked through. Facilitators will be advised directly of any changes to access arrangements. 

I have lost my certificate. Can you send me a new copy?

Yes. We will continue to retain records relating to training delivered through the University and can provide replacement certificates where appropriate.

Will my Tuning in to Kids facilitator certification remain in place?

Yes. Facilitator certification obtained through training delivered by the University of Melbourne remains valid.

The University’s records will continue to show that you completed the relevant University-delivered training and received the certification issued on completion.  

Will facilitator training be available from 2027?

The University of Melbourne and the Mindful Centre will not offer facilitator training from 2027.

Can I still register for training in 2026?

Yes. A limited number of places remain available in the 2026 training calendar. Please refer to the website for current availability.  Please note that  no additional workshops will be scheduled, and we are not able to offer a waitlist for trainings that are showing as sold out.  

I was unable to attend part of my training. Will I be able to complete the program?

If you were unable to attend part of your training, please contact the Tuning In team via tik-info@unimelb.edu.au

The University is committed to supporting participants who have commenced training with us. Available options will depend on the training completed to date and the requirements of the specific program.

Will the University offer supervision for facilitators?

No. The University of Melbourne and Mindful will not offer facilitator supervision from 2027.

What will happen to my personal information that the University of Melbourne has collected?

The University of Melbourne takes its responsibilities for privacy and data management very seriously.

Your personal information will continue to be managed in accordance with the University’s privacy, records management and legal obligations.
