Please check dates and times in your local and/or international time zone to ensure you are able to participate from day one and continue through each of the three sessions. 

Pre-requisites and Suitability

You must have completed Tuning in to Kids/Teens facilitator training to take this workshop.

The accredited training is suitable for professionals who work with teachers.

Experience in delivery of Tuning in to Kids/Teens programs and work within the school setting is required, as a more comprehensive understanding of the Tuning In programs and schools is necessary for providing training to teachers.

The following prerequisites for this training are:

1. You must be trained in either Tuning in to Kids (if planning to work with primary school teachers) or Tuning in to Teens (if planning to work with secondary school teachers).

2. You will be either based at or connected to a school (e.g., as student wellbeing staff/psychologist/occupational therapist/ or other relevant profession) OR have proof of conducting prior professional development work with teachers.

3. You will have conducted a minimum of four Tuning in to Kids or Tuning in to Teens (or combination) groups if you are planning to deliver the program to groups of teachers or as a whole school approach delivery (i.e., to all school staff)

OR
You will have used the Tuning in to Kids or Tuning in to Teens programs in a one-on-one setting with at least 8 individuals if you are planning to work one-on-on with teachers.

About

Tuning in to Students Online Facilitator Training is a 2-half-day professional development workshop that gives trainees a grounding for the delivery of the Tuning in to Kids® and Teens® concepts of Emotional Intelligence and Emotion Coaching in the school setting with teachers.

The training takes accredited Tuning in to Kids and Tuning in to Teens facilitators through the teacher version of our programs, which was specifically designed for teachers in primary and secondary school settings. Tuning in to Students applies emotion coaching to the school context, with a focus on promoting supportive teacher emotion socialization to strengthen teacher-student relationships, improve the emotional climate of the classroom, and support student emotional development. The training covers the core content taught in the Tuning in to Students program, including experiential activities.

What is Included?

Registration includes:   
– 2 session online training
– Program certification in Tuning in to Students Whole School Approach delivery (confirmed prerequisite required)
– Program certification in Tuning in to Students One-to-One delivery (confirmed prerequisite required).
– Access to the Tuning in to Students Delivery Resources/Manual folder on the Tuning in to Kids Facilitator Portal upon completion. This folder houses the structured manualized delivery PowerPoints, teacher handouts & video materials, and additional facilitator resources (including access to research articles, tip sheets, emotion glossary, Emotion Regulation Alphabet, Emotion Tuning Wheel) to assist in program delivery.
– Ongoing support via free supervision sessions, offered monthly by our training team. Please see our Supervision page for more information.
    
Certification: Those completing the training will be certified as Tuning in to Students program facilitators. To attain certification, you must attend each of the Zoom sessions in full.

Training Materials, Program Manuals & Postage: Digital training materials and the Zoom link will be sent via email two weeks prior to training.

The draft Tuning in to Students Manual will be sent via email to participants. A final Tuning in to Students Manual will be made available for purchase in later in 2026. Facilitators can choose to upgrade to this final Tuning in to Students Manual by paying a small additional fee. Once this is available, facilitators will receive an email alert and will receive a $140 credit for purchasing the final Tuning in to Students Manual, if they so wish.

Terms and Conditions

Changes to Registration Policy:
Registered participants who are unable to attend and notify us of this in writing at least 2 days before the workshop are allowed one transfer to another eligible participant or one transfer to an equivalent training in the same calendar year.

Cancellation Policy: Participants who cancel their registration up to 14 days before the training will receive a full refund. After 14 days before the training, participants will receive a refund minus an AUD$50.00 fee to cover administration costs. In exceptional circumstances, please contact tik-info@unimelb.edu.au

Tuning in to Kids reserves the right to cancel, postpone or reschedule events due to low enrolments or unforeseen circumstances.
