Attend a Parenting Program

Tuning in to Kids®, Tuning in to Teens™, and Dads Tuning in to Kids™ parenting programs normally run over 6 – 8 weeks, with parents meeting in a group under the guidance of a certified, trained facilitator. Parenting groups are also offered online.

How do I locate a parenting program in my area?

Tuning in to Kids is a program for parents and carers offered face to face or online. The program teaches the skills of emotion coaching – a way of responding to children when they experience emotions, that helps them learn to understand and manage their emotions. Versions of the program are for parents of toddlers, preschool/primary school aged children, adolescents and a version for Dads.

At our centre we provide training to professionals to use the program in their place of work. We do not offer programs directly to parents other than Tuning in to Kids Online (TIKOL). Please note, the TIKOL program we provide is designed as a self-paced introduction to Tuning in to Kids. There is no certificate of completion for TIKOL.

If you are interested in attending a program in your area or online you may wish to ask community health centres, the kindergarten/school your child attends, or mental health services who may offer the program. We also recommend an internet search with the words ‘Tuning in to Kids’ or ‘Tuning in to Teens’ + the name of your suburb or region.
